An SUV Drifts Through a 25-Centimeter Gap
What happened
UPI reported on October 12 that a Zeekr 7X electric SUV earned a Guinness World Records title after professional driver Chien Jui-Yu passed between two barriers with only 25 centimeters (9.84 inches) of total clearance while drifting at Yas Marina Circuit. The certified attempt itself took place on June 12, 2026, so the publication date and record date are not the same.
Why it matters
A quarter-meter margin split across both sides leaves almost no room for steering error, tire movement or body roll. The record is a controlled precision-driving demonstration on a closed circuit, not evidence that the maneuver is safe on public roads. Naming both clocks also prevents an October report from being mistaken for an October attempt.
