Miami Coach Lifts a Piano’s Worth for Six Seconds
What happened
WLRN Public Media reported on October 23 that Miami fitness coach Lilian M. Zamora Alonso holds the Guinness World Records title for the heaviest weighted hip thrust by a woman: 639 pounds, or 289.90 kilograms. She made the lift at Miami Iron Gym on March 27 after nearly a decade of training. The attempt required a straight line from knees through hips to shoulders to be held for six seconds, and certification arrived after a five-month review.
Why it matters
The headline number hides the evidentiary work. Zamora Alonso said she had lifted 670 pounds in training but chose a lower official weight to reduce the risk of a recording or form error. A certified record is therefore not simply the largest gym claim; it is a measured performance inside a defined category, with repeatable form, witnesses and review. Readers should also treat it as an elite athletic feat—not a safe starting prescription.
The Blappos angle
Verified record, rules and timeline end above. The Blappos interpretation: Miami briefly made a piano obey leg day. The magnet’s anonymous athlete, plates, stopwatch, arena and skyline are original editorial illustration—not Zamora Alonso, documentary evidence, a Guinness mark or exercise instruction. Do not attempt a maximal lift without qualified coaching, appropriate equipment and progressive training.
