Guatemala Mixes 4,325.9 Pounds of Family Recipe

What happened

UPI reported October 29 that chefs in Guatemala City prepared a 4,325.9-pound fiambre salad recognized by Guinness World Records. Guinness says the October 24 event used 52 distinct ingredients and produced 1,962.2 kilograms of fiambre, surpassing the category’s 500-kilogram minimum. An adjudicator observed the weighing, and the finished salad was served to the crowd during a celebration with music and traditional weaving.

Why it matters

Fiambre is associated with Guatemala’s All Saints and All Souls observances and is famously variable from family to family. The record turned that living tradition into a measured public event without making one recipe the official version. Naming the event date, certification process and organizer also keeps a sponsored celebration distinct from an anonymous folk origin story.

The Blappos angle

The October 29 report, October 24 event, certified weight, 52-ingredient count and cultural boundary end above. The Blappos interpretation: Guatemala scaled the family recipe until the serving bowl required municipal planning. The magnet’s chefs, plaza, bowl, textiles and ingredients are original editorial illustration—not event attendees, a copied photograph, company branding or a claim that one household recipe represents every fiambre.
