Raccoon walks into Manhattan church during candlelit service
What happened
The New York Post reported on October 3 that a raccoon walked through the open doors of St. Joseph’s Church in Greenwich Village during a September 25 candlelit Night Fire service. Video showed the animal exploring the foyer before the pastor guided it back outside.
Why it matters
The incident is harmless, visual and unusually well documented, but the date distinction matters: October 3 is the reporting date and September 25 is the event date. Nothing in the account establishes that the raccoon understood the ceremony or intended to attend.
The Blappos angle
Night Mass + One Raccoon. The guest arrived without a reservation, inspected the foyer and left before the collection plate. The illustration invents the candlelit composition and does not depict the actual animal or video frame.
