What happened

UPI reported October 26 that Zhang Xue rode a modified ZXMOTO MX450 for 40.74 kilometers across open water in Mayang, Hunan, earning a Guinness World Records title. Reporting on the October 25 attempt describes repeated passes on the Chen River, a front ski for support and steering, waterproofing, an enlarged fuel tank and a rear tire that supplied propulsion while skimming the surface.

Why it matters

The record is a controlled demonstration of speed, flotation, traction and reliability—not evidence that a street motorcycle is secretly a boat. The exact category and specialized machine matter: repeated open-water passes accumulated the certified distance. That boundary makes the achievement more legible and keeps a striking clip from turning into unsafe imitation or a misleading consumer claim.
