Three-year-old and dad jump through one hoop nine times for a world record
What happened
Idaho record-breaker David Rush and his three-year-old daughter attempted the Guinness World Records title for most passes through a back-spun hula hoop in 30 seconds. They crossed the hoop ten times, but one pass was disqualified, leaving nine valid passes—one more than the standing record of eight. Rush said the official certificate arrived several weeks later.
Why it matters
The number is small enough to sound easy until coordination, timing and a moving hoop all have to agree within 30 seconds. The account also matters as a family story: Rush said they practiced only when his daughter wanted to, keeping a public record attempt subordinate to a preschooler's consent and enjoyment.
