Driver discovers bagel preparation is not a hands-free feature
What happened
Queensland police said a 29-year-old provisional-license driver was caught steering a silver Honda HR-V with his knees while using both hands to butter a bagel in heavy traffic on Tor Street in Newtown, Toowoomba. Officers also found the vehicle was unregistered.
Why it matters
Police fined the driver A$1,104 and issued three demerit points. He reportedly admitted the choice was “stupid” and explained that he was hungry after working since morning; police used the incident to warn that even ordinary distractions can have serious consequences.
