Shark swims down a flooded New Jersey street after a nor'easter

What happened

A Surf City resident recorded a small shark swimming through a flooded residential road on Long Beach Island after a powerful nor'easter pushed bay water into coastal neighborhoods. The dorsal fin and body were visible between homes while floodwater covered the street. UPI and The Philadelphia Inquirer published the footage on September 30.

Why it matters

The visual is extraordinary, but it sits inside a real coastal-flooding event that damaged property and disrupted communities along the East Coast. Reporting described the animal as a small shark; the footage alone does not justify a more precise species claim. The useful takeaway is not that sharks have taken up commuting, but that storm surge can temporarily erase the ordinary boundary between bay and street.

The Blappos angle

Verified facts end above. The Blappos interpretation: Surf City's newest traffic pattern has one lane, two fins and absolutely no turn signal. The magnet uses an invented coastal street and generic small shark—not a copied video frame, a resident's home, disaster victim or licensed photograph.
