World’s narrowest drivable car leaves elbow room off the blueprint
What happened
Italian mechanic Andrea Marazzi turned a salvaged 1993 Fiat Panda into the world’s narrowest drivable car. The electric “Flat Fiat” is 50.20 centimeters (19.76 inches) wide, has four wheels, one headlight and one seat, and retains more than 90 percent of the original car’s parts.
Why it matters
Marazzi spent about a year fitting a driver, steering, controls and a working powertrain into a slice of car. The finished vehicle weighs about 264 kilograms, reaches roughly 15 km/h and is not street legal.
