Elk mounts parked car; windshield resigns immediately
What happened
UPI reported that Bruce Roach found the windshield of his parked car shattered outside his apartment in Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island. Security video showed a bull elk pursuing a cow into the parking area, jumping onto the hood and crashing into the windshield before both animals ran away.
Why it matters
The footage resolved what otherwise looked like unexplained vandalism and showed how quickly large wildlife can turn an ordinary parking space into a hazard. Even without a driver inside, the elk’s weight and antlers caused damage that a parked-car owner could not reasonably anticipate.
The Blappos angle
Verified fact ends above. The Blappos interpretation: the elk declined the marked space, selected hood parking and left without insurance information. British Columbia has issued the windshield a complimentary wildlife experience.
