Koala checks into an Australian bedroom without a reservation
What happened
A September 20 report described an Inverell resident hearing scratching and growling at a sliding glass door before a koala ran down the hall, climbed onto her bed and settled in. A local wildlife volunteer safely removed the animal from the house.
Why it matters
The surprise houseguest is funny, but the broader pattern is not just slapstick. The report cites Australian research showing that native animals increasingly use buildings when hollow-bearing habitat is scarce, turning one excellent bedroom photo into a larger question about habitat, urban design and wildlife-rescue demand.
The Blappos angle
The koala skipped reception, inspected the linens and requested the eucalyptus minibar. Management waived the cleaning fee because the guest brought its own fur coat.
